Hlubek and Kaitlin, Matched Since April 2001
Sally and Kaitlin have enjoyed an active and
exciting match since Kaitlin was in 2nd
grade. She recently celebrated her 15th
birthday, and is active in band & sports. Sally &
Kaitlin have met quite steadily during their 7 year
match, often every other Wednesday night. Sally
said, “We usually have supper as a family, and then
Kaitlin and I go shopping or just hang out!” Kaitlin
said they both enjoy playing tennis, bowling, and
riding bikes together! They also attended the BBBS
Night at the Kernels Baseball Game this last summer.
Sally says, “Kaitlin is part of our family!” They
even invited her to be in their family portrait this
year! Congratulations to Sally and Kaitlin for
almost 7 years as an outstanding match and a
life-long friendship!
JANUARY 2008
MATCH OF THE MONTH
Jasmine and Deb get together at least once a week
and really enjoy just hanging out at Deb's house and
playing with dogs Duncan and Grady. Jasmine loves
to help in the kitchen - she's learned how to make
homemade pizza, grilled chicken and sautéed shrimp
(our personal favorite). Jasmine and Deb have a lot
in common - their love of dogs, birthdays in
December, helping others in need, and cooking. It
always makes Deb smile when outside Jasmine
sometimes looks around and says "It's a beautiful
day out here". She sounds so grown-up!

MATCH OF THE MONTH
 Karen
Brickell and Mariah
Matched since April 2005
Karen
and Mariah have been great friends since they met over
two years ago. Some of their favorite activities are
cooking dinner together, watching movies, shopping and
just talking to each other. Mariah says about her match
with Karen, “the best thing is having someone to talk to
and having a female role model, which I never had
before.” Mariah’s dad, David, appreciates the important
role Karen plays in talking about grades and life in
high school with Mariah. Congratulations Karen and
Mariah!
JUNE 2007 MATCH OF THE MONTH
Megan Fox &
Diamond
Matched Since January 2007
Megan and Diamond have had a great time getting to know
each other over the past few months. They've done lots
of things so far including participating in Bowl For Kids'
Sake, ice skating and flying kites. Recently Megan and
Diamond signed up to take a pottery class together through
the REC Center and BBBS' C.A.R.E. Program. Diamond's
grandmother says she is very happy she got Diamond involved
in the program because Megan can do things with Diamond that
she can't.
MAY 2007
MATCH OF THE MONTH
John O’Connor & Lathan
Matched Since February 2007
John meets with Lathan at school for lunch about once a
week and they also hang-out once every other week and go
to movies or to John’s to play basketball. When Lathan
was asked what his favorite thing about his Big Brother
was he said, “He takes me cool places!”
APRIL 2007 MATCH OF THE MONTH
Big Sister Tami
Begley & Little Sister Michelle
Matched Since September 2005
The past year and a half have been a great
experience for
Tami and
Michelle! They have started to build their
friendship through a variety of activities together.
Tami and Michelle enjoy doing things such
as going to the circus, playing ball at the YMCA and
playing Michelle’s favorite board game, Sorry. Tami
and Michelle are supported by Michelle’s mother, who
describes their relationship as “open, caring and
very happy”! Tami
and Michelle have already learned a lot about and
from each other. Michelle has learned to have
better sportsmanship, while Tami has enjoyed drawing
together. This is a match who knows how to have fun!
FEBRUARY 2007 MATCH OF THE MONTH
Big
Brother Toby Walsh & Little Brother Timothy
Matched Since August 2005
Toby
and Timothy met at Taylor Elementary School in August of
2005 as Lunch Buddies. They had so much fun together
eating lunch at Taylor that they decided to transition
to the Community Based program in November of 2006.
Toby and Timothy enjoy doing a variety of activities
together, from hanging out at Toby's house to going out
to eat to playing at the Play Station. Timothy's mom
described their match as "TnT, because when they’re
together they’re dynamite!"
