Two month minimum commitment.
The Development Department seeks an energetic
Intern to assist with special projects and
day-to-day Development operations. The ideal
candidate will have an interest in non-profits,
fundraising and executing special events.
At the conclusion of his/her tenure, the intern
will have a thorough understanding of
development activities, including grant
research, application and reporting, event
planning, researching donor prospects, and
solicitation strategizing. They will also
understand how to develop a marketing plan and
create marketing materials. The intern will be
encouraged to take a leadership role in
spearheading their own project within the
objectives of the development department,
depending on one’s experience and hours of
availability.
Qualifications
The number of hours and schedule are flexible,
but the intern will be expected to work 10–20
hours per week, sometime between the hours of
8:00am–4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
A successful candidate must be reliable and
organized with exceptional follow-through. He or
she must have an ability to take direction,
multi-task, and has a capacity for critical
observation as many times new prospects or
avenues for funding may arise from unlikely
connections. Creativity and initiative
developing ideas and projects with a strong work
ethic and willingness to learn is ideal.
Familiarity with MS Office is necessary for this
position. In addition, candidates must be
Internet savvy and have good clerical skills.
Compensation
Although this is an unpaid internship, this
is a great opportunity for candidates interested
in non-profit fundraising, marketing, public
affairs and special event planning.

Full Time Match Support Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the role is to provide
professional support to mentor matches in order
to help youth develop essential personal
assets. Essential to the BBBS Brand, the
primary function of this position is to ensure
positive impacts for youth by supporting
constructive and satisfying relationships
between children and volunteer and creating a
strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the
part of volunteers and school partners.
Additionally, the Match Support Specialist shall
help ensure child safety on a continual basis.
The position shall make assessments of training,
information and support need for each
participant to ensure a successful experience
for the volunteer and the child/family. This
role includes promoting agency activities as
well as providing individualized resources to
meet family and child needs.
JOB
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelors degree
required in social services, human services or
related field preferred. Assessment and
relationship development experience with child
and adult populations and understanding of child
development and family dynamics. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and
Excel. Flexibility in scheduling for
appointments (some evening and weekends may be
required) and ability to balance competing
demands is important. Must be able to obtain
transportation to get to designated meetings
throughout the area. Spanish speaking a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS
AND ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written
communication skills, reflecting solid customer
service both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to form and sustain appropriate child,
adult volunteer-based relationships based on
positive youth development and match participant
satisfaction. Ability to use time effectively
and focus on details. Ability to collect
meaningful information and data over the phone
and in person. Practices attentive and active
listening in order to build positive rapport.
Can accurately restate opinions of others even
when he/she disagrees. Understands child safety
issues and is vigilant in recognizing signs of
problems. Ability to work independently and on
a team.
